Ganesh Himal and The Ruby Valley are at the heart of the fascinating Himalayan Nation of Nepal. This gem of a region is conveniently located between two of Nepal’s largest cities, Kathmandu and Pokhara yet maintains its traditional mystique and cultural vitality.Historically, Nepal was forged from these foothills. Gurkha warriors from the area were led by Prithvi Narayan Shah to unite Nepal in the late 18th century. Recently, the local people have been putting a lot of effort into developing the area for tourism.
Along the way to the Ruby Valley, visitors can enjoy scenic viewpoints of the snowy Himalaya including the Ganesh Himal family of peaks with Ganesh I at 7,422 m (24,350 ft) thru VII, Paldor Peak, Manaslu (8th highest peak in the world and one of only fourteen that soar above 8000 m) and the ranges of Langtang, Kirong, Goasinkunda, Annapurna (with the world’s 10th highest peak), and Dhaulagiri (with the world’s 7th highest peak which also has the honor of being the highest peak entirley within Nepas borders)!
Trekkers looking for an adventure here can enjoy landscape with serene meadows of wildflowers, tumbling waterfalls, and rushing streams and rivers and Himalayan wildlife.
The welcoming people are Gurung, Ghale, Dalit and Tamang to the north, and Brahmin, Chepang, Chhetri, Dalit, and Newar in the lower elevations towards the south. Our local guide will take care of all necessities for a comfortable journey to this captivating, remote region.

Special note: the epicenters of the 2015 earthquakes were in this area, and many homes were destroyed and lives lost. The area is recovering, and the people are hoping to revive their lives and economy through tourism, and very much looking forward to your visit.
The Neo Horizon Ganesh Himal and Ruby Valley Trek reaches remote areas, sometimes without adequate lodging for travelers Therefore, it is a combined lodge and camping journey. Most nights will be spent camping under the HImalayan heavens. We arrange for porters to assist with supplies and equipment and to carry sufficient food along with a dining tent, chairs and tables and a latrine tent as well as personal sleeping tents (two people per tent). Our skilled cooking crew will prepare the day’s hot drinks and nourishing meals. In the evening, during and after dinner and drinks we can truly relish the serentiy of nature and heavenly setting with stars blinking above the secluded hills and peaks.
Day 01Arrival at Kathmandu’s International airport (1350 m/ 4,450 ft)Welcome to Nepal. You will be greeted at the arrival area of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu's international airport by our representative and escorted to your hotel. Take time to refresh yourself after your international travel. The first evening is open to enjoy as you like, rest and relax at the hotel or explore the surroundings.
Day 02Full Day Tour, Sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley After a leisurely breakfast, our skilled guide leads a tour of Kathmandu Valley’s highlights and attractions, including magnificent World Heritage Sites of cultural and historical significance. After the tour, we will hold a pre-departure discussion with our Trek Leader and staff.
Day 03Drive to Syabrubesi (1505 m/4945 ft) We make a picturesque drive through rural areas with scenic hills and villages to Syabrubesi. Syabrubesi is mainly a Tamang village and considered to be the gateway to the Langtang Valley.
Day 04Trek to Gatlang (2340 m/7700 ft) We begin our trek today with a climb over a ridge with a great panorama and then drop down to the Gatlang, a charming village that is part of the Tamang Heritage Trail. There are prayer walls and Buddhist flags and much to explore in this large village that is recovering from the earthquakes of 2015.
Day 05Trek to Somdang (3270 m/10,765 ft) We climb past the a pond and shrine of Parvati Kund. The path travels through serene forests of pine and rhododendron and open meadows as we climb to a pass known as Khurpu Bhanjyang with a splendid panorama. We then drop down to the Somdang River which is the border between Rasuwa and Dhading districts. A former mining compound lies to the north here.
Day 06Trek to Pangsang La (3845 m/ 12645 ft) We have a relatively short and easy day up to a beautiful pass in an open meadow with an exhilarating panorama. We travel through lush jungle on the way and from the pass we can see Manaslu and the Ganesh Himal and Annapurna ranges and more. The large meadow is graced with an entryway structure and ideal for camping.
Day 07Trek to Shertung (1875 m/ 6190 ft) We descend through peaceful jungle with views of the valley below to Tipling, a large Tamang village that has two Buddhist monasteries and two Christian churches as well. We continue to the sister village of Shertung and Chalish, majestically overlooking the valley and inhabited by Tamang, Gurung and Dalit ethnicities.
Day 08Trek to Hindung lunch and Neber Gaon (2220 m /7425 ft) We drop down to cross the river and then ascend through lush jungles and terraced fields to the serene village of Hindung. Crystals and rubies are harvested in areas to the north and yarsagumba (the Cordyceps mushroom in the shape of a caterpillar) is hunted too, in the surrounding highlands. We then drop down to cross another river and make a steep climb to Neber Gaon.
Day 09Trek to Kupchyat (2070 m/ 6825 ft) We will have a pleasant day today with a chance to rejuvenate at a natural hot springs! We begin by hiking downhill out of the valley and reach the riverside hot springs for a relaxing bath! We then climb and then descend and climb again to the scenic destination of Kupchyat.
Day 10Trek to - Khading and Lapa Gaon (2030 m/ 6675 ft) The path traverses remote landscape and terraced fields to cross a river before ascending to the large, mainly Tamang village of Lapa Gaon. We continue to nearby Khading, inhabited by Gurung.
Day 11Trek to Jharlang (2995 m/ 9885 ft) Descending to cross the Ankhu River, we then climb up to the settlement of Borang. We continue through luxuriant jungle passing more rural villages and then make a climb to Jharlang, a large village with a breathtaking panorama.
Day 12Trek to Khaniyabas (1785 m/ 5890 ft) Today will be longer than usual as we make our way to the Tamang village of Kuri. We continue to Birchet and then finally reach Khaniyabas where we can take in marvelous sunset views.
Day 13Trek to Megang Danda (3220 m /10,630 ft)We pass through dense jungle today with a chance to observe local wildlife in their natural habitat. We reach our peaceful destination that offers a dazzling panorama.
Day 14Trek to Trisuli Bazaar – vehicle to Kathmandu (1310 m/ 4323 ft) Our last day on the trek, we have a scenic, pleasant descent to bustling Trishuli Bazaar and then make a return drive to the ancient capital of the Himalaya, Kathmandu. The rest of the evening is available to explore the city on your own, search for souvenirs for friends and loved ones back home, and relax and enjoy yourself after the remote trekking. In the evening we will enjoy a farewell dinner together.
Day 15Transfer to the international airport for your final departureOur representative will escort you to the airport for your departure back home. We are sure that you will have enjoyed the experience and our services. As you travel to your own country, hopefully you will remember us and Nepal very fondly. Farewell friend.
